Nowadays, the practice of law is far more ranging and diverse than it ever used to be. Given the complexities of legal issues that accompany each area of law, it has become a necessity for many attorneys to focus their practice on a narrow legal field.  The days of the “general practice” with the jack-of-all-trades and master-of-none approach to law are antiquated.

The modern client expects nothing less than complete competence when they seek representation. In the medical field, a man goes to a doctor that specializes in the area of the body that ails him. In the legal profession, it should be the same concept. A narrow-focused practice develops competence and efficiency. In turn, this can streamline a case and lower legal fees.

This is why attorney Thor Hartwig has focused his practice exclusively on men's divorce and family law. And this isn't a marketing niche being exploited; he has personally been through a divorce in Hillsborough County and understands the tribulations first-hand. It's this experience that made him switch professions and go to law school with the specific goal of becoming a men's divorce attorney.

Prior to this, Thor Hartwig was a Captain in the U.S. Army. While on a year-long deployment to Afghanistan, his wife moved back to her native Florida and petitioned for divorce. Not wanting to be an absentee father, he gave up a promising career in the military and moved to the Tampa Bay area.

Recognizing the challenges men can face in a divorce, and the importance of fathers remaining active, positive influences in their kids' lives, he applied to law school to begin a new career dedicated to men's advocacy in divorce and family law.
